General of the First French Empire, he was named Grand Marshal of the Palace by Napoleon.
He was killed on May 23, 1813 in Niedermackersdorf, near Görlitz, Silesia
"Géraud-Christophe de Michel du Roc a.k.a. Duroc (1772-1813), Duke of Friuli" by Antoine-Jean Gros (Paris 1771 - Meudon 1835).
His tomb , is in the Dome Church in the Hôtel des Invalides located in Paris' seventh arrondissement.
